Since 1967, Orchard-Rite has engineered and built wind machines with precision technology. They take pride in the details, which is why growers from around the world trust the name. They design machinery to match your needs and are there to help throughout the process.
Orchard-Rite® wind machines are the industry’s most dependable protection against the damaging effects of spring frosts and winter freezes. Our wind machines work with nature to pull the warmer air down into the orchard or growing field to raise temperatures and save crops. Our wind machine blades are the safest and most efficient in the industry. We use a unique design and proprietary process to construct durable, all-fiberglass blades. All Orchard-Rite® wind machine gearboxes use a fail-safe oil submersion system for added reliability and longevity. A simply designed control panel allows operators to monitor oil pressure, amperage, and temperature. Every Orchard-Rite® wind machine is protected by a Murphy shut-down system. These systems monitor critical engine thresholds and will shut the engine down to prevent further damage if these thresholds are met. Each Orchard-Rite® wind machine is designed to be site specific. Using detailed aerial photographs and GPS technology, we study the topography of the land before recommending a possible site for a new wind machine. A sales representative experienced in wind machine placement reviews every site before installation, working closely with the grower to find the optimal location and options to maximize the wind machine’s performance. Protect your crops with the smart choice – Orchard-Rite® wind machines

What size tractor do I need?
Vineyards require specialized, narrow-profile tractors designed to maneuver tight row spacing without damaging vines. Standard row spacing often requires sub-50 to 80-horsepower tractors like the Fendt 200 V/F/P series or compact Kubotas.
-
Do I need a mechanical grape harvester?
Mechanical harvesters are excellent for large commercial operations because they significantly reduce labor costs and pick grapes much faster than manual crews. Smaller or premium vineyards often prefer hand-picking to prevent vine damage and allow for strict, cluster-by-cluster sorting.
-
What should I look for when choosing an orchard tractor?
When selecting an orchard tractor, consider factors such as row spacing, maneuverability, horsepower, attachments and the tasks the tractor will perform. Our team can help match your operation with the right equipment.
-
What tools are needed for canopy management and vine tying?
Essential tools for training vines include automated pre-pruners, tying tape tools (like the Max Taper) for securing canes upward without girdling, and wire-tensioning tools for trellising.
-
When should I rent instead of buying vineyard equipment?
Renting is typically best for seasonal or short-term operations like harvesting or heavy-duty tilling. If a machine (such as a daily-use vineyard tractor) is used year-round, buying or financing generally makes more financial sense.
